Did the mod today and it dropped my temps by about 3 degrees. I was hoping for something better, but I'll take it since my particular CPU needs such high volts to get a decent overclock.

I combined the above mentioned washer mod with a bolt-through mod. The washer was necessary to lift everything off the board a bit.

I'm going to post a work log with detailed pics and materials used sometime tomorrow (seperate thread) but for now, here's some prelims:

...

...

...

Like I said, not as dramatic of a change as I was hoping for (dropped 2 -3 degrees), but for anyone with a 1.325 VID Q6600, like myself, every degree counts.

Fun mod.

Thanks mang!

All things considered ... and after reading a thousand TRUE reviews ... 8 degrees over ambient is pretty dang respectable in the air cooler realm when running a 1.325 VID Q6600 at 3.5ghz. (Hate that it takes so much voltage to run 3.5/3.6 but that's the chip I got).

I may try and reseat tomorrow ... (but if I'm smart/prudent I'll just accept the decent numbers as they are).

I think I may have to try this. I idle at 35C with my TRUE in a 23C room. I've been meaning to reseat anyway, and since my 2nd 8800GT for SLI got here today, perhaps it's an evening in the workshop for me...
