Default Getting fan on the side...worth it?

Is it worth throwing in a fan on the side window of my case 80 mm, 92 mm or 120 mm I can make the mounting bigger. I'll probaly get one to help light up the case anyway temp wise does it help?

A 120mm would be worth it.

It might disrupt airflow a little, but would probably help with temps.

If you only have an 80mm mount at the moment.. You can get funnel-type adapters that'll allows you to put a 120 on the other end of it.. Last time i saw them was on ebay..

Edit - Example

I could probably get a 120 and use cable ties.

Can't say I'd recommend a funnel adapter. Any kind of funnel with a fan at one end tends to increase the amount of noise that the fan makes.

A side panel fan will help your system, especially if you your CPU cooler is a face down unit (fan blows down onto the mobo). If you haved a vertically or horizontally mounted unit, it will not help as much and may impede your airflow as was previously mentioned.

In my rig, I added a side panel fan and it dropped my CPU temps by 6C when run at 100% when I had the stock intel cooler. Now that I have a Vendetta blowing towards the back, the side panel fan was remounted on the outside of my case and I run it at a lower setting (30%ish) as too much air coming in actually raises my temps a little with the new cooler as it probably impedes the airflow a bit. A little air will be good though for your NB and mosfets, ram, etc...depending on where the side panel hole is.

Good luck!

My temps of my CPU weren't affected too much, but my NB, SB, and GPU SLI decreased by 12C with a 120mm 84CFM fan at 100% (I like a bit of noise...)
