Default My first lap attempt =D.

Well I had been dealing with some pretty hot temps latley, so I decided to lap my q6600 and TRUE to get the best temps I could .

Before I started lapping here are some before pics of the temps:

The reason for the 8x multi is because I read soomewhere that using a lower multi requires less voltage, and less voltage = less heat :P

To give you an idea of the size of the TURE I compaired it to a Thermalright Big Typhoon, and then compaired that to a stock Intel cooler:

True vs Btp

(the random face is there because my mum was in the background, and she didn't want to be posted on the net xD)

The materials:

(When me and my mum were taping down the sand papper we would just throw the tape behind us, and after taping just two sides down we lost it, we spent about 10 minuets looking for it, and once I couldnt find it I went into the kitchen to have a look for some more, so as i step over my cat I saw the she had it in her paws, bitting it xD. Though it deserved a picture )
The set up:

Specail thanks to:
Abilor (thanks =D)

You might be wondering where all the 800+ grit pictures are? Well tbh, I got sceard and decided to concintrate on the sanding insted of taking pictures xD. More to come, just playing around I overclocked it to 3.4 and to 3.6, 3.4 max temp was 58/58/56/56 and 3.6 was 60/61/60/60. Ill play around with it a bit more tomorow (its 1.03am here :P) but what are the safe voltages for 24/7 and benchmarking???

Thanks for reading

Wow u started with hectic rough sandpaper man! My bud did his 600/800/1200/2000. That Q6600 came out like a mirror! He had a +- 10 degree drop on each core! Here's the link: http://www.overclock.net/case-mod-wo...a-570-a-5.html

Open a window and it'll drop your temps to about 25C!

I was idling at 30 on stock voltages, then I OCed to 3.6 and had same idles and loads with window open :P

I have no idea :P. Yeah I'm going to be overclocking today, the reason it was at stock was because the before pictues were at stock.

:P, I did that later on that night, but I was amazed at how low it was before hand! 45 town to 33 .

So far Ive got it stable at 3.6 with 1.5250 in the bios and a max temp of 65 . Whats the highest voltage I can use safley for 24/7 and for benchmarking??

Well there isn't really a "safe" voltage. Increasing voltage decreases the life expectancy of the CPU, so you'd just have it for less often. I run mine at 3.2ghz when I don't need performance (like now) so that helps. But generally, people say you should keep it under 1.5V.
