Ok So I was Getting sick of these really annoying temps, thinking to myself I wanted BETTER, I could of gone Water cooling but I don't trust it nor do I have the cash to put out on a system for maybe 200mhz more lol...
This is a mod You can Do yourself To achieve SUPERIOR temps towards beating Down the summer. Now most would of said, Why Z28 Just get a True, well Why For 70 dollars would i buy something maybe 2-3 better off the bat???? Nah Besides it'll mess up My unique style and it's Plain ugly to me.... If you think this is Good enough to be a FAQ please notify a mod to move it towards that section Thanks PLEASE NO FLAMING OR Fan boy POSTS!!!! thanks First off before this i had 29-31c idle temps Right now I have 22-25c idle temps In 80F weather with 3.74ghz and 1.52volts Here are the Not so simple steps I did to acquire these temps. Air cooling MOD steps... below 1. Lap both Cpu and Heatsink 2. Washer Mod (2 washers at most needed on each screw) 3. Remove motherboard Cpu Clip 4. remove Tuniq H clip and sand down to flat base 5. sand the heatpipes down, and base 6. apply alot of thermal paste to the base between the Heatpipes 7. APPLY an X instead of a l across the CPU to cover the whole CPu instead of some. 8. Zip tie a 2nd Fan onto The TUNIQ tower or however you want it on. Below are Some pictures 56k warning there are quite a few... 26photos ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now use the Cheaper paste for the heatpipes ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mark off the Hclip spots for paste ![]() Now add tons of CHEAP thermal paste between the pipes ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

nice mod, and temps but i have a question about realtemp. did you change the config so it reads the correct tJ for your core? only 23 and 25c on 1.5vcore is almost unbelivable.
what does everest say your cores are?

Looks good, but I would include more details/steps with the pictures themselves.
Also, I wouldn't recommend lapping or sanding down the heatpipes, since they could burst from the pressure, and you'd be SOL and without a Tuniq if they were to bust. EDIT: I notice you're using RealTemp. I'd use CoreTemp instead, as it is much more accurate imo.
