I'm trying to apply the thermal paste to my cpu, but can someone post a picture which shows the thin covering over the CPU. I can't fully grasp how thin it has to be.

Put 2mm dots over the cores, attach cooler, remove, observe.

As thin as possible, mainly you can't see how thick it is, only that it's there
![]() If your bases are flat and you put a small amount, you shouldn't worry.

![]() Put a line like that on the core, and the pressure from the heatsink should spread it nice and evenly. Edit: and resist temptation to snort it... sorry..

Not everyone may have the same issue regarding that as others...
__________________---- Since your HS is lapped you should go with a very thin line since your bases should be very flat. You could try following Audi's mod by using maybe a 0.05 head of a mechanical pencil to form a thinner line.
