I have built several systems with a couple of those heatsinks, and from the experience I have gained, the TRUE is the best. I am sorry if you disagree, but you also must remember, TRUEs vary from HSF to HSF. One may be the greatest, while the other might suck.

Does it matter which way you mount the heatsink though? As long its seated correctly, does it matter which side is up and which side is down/sideways etc.

I don't believe so, as long as it covers your CPU. Probably best to have it toward an exhaust fan or something where the air can escape. I have mine blowing straight out the back top of my CM690.

Heatpipe coolers should always be mounted with the tips of the heatpipes as straight up and high as possible, this is because heatpipes are filled with liquid that converts to gas (rising to the top), then is condensed and falls (or uses a wick) back to the bottom. On tower coolers it usually doesn't matter, but you can see what I mean with this noctua and the recommended mounting positions. Oh and for the record, usually heatpipe coolers perform better when they are mounted with the motherboard in the horizontal position, because of this same principle, here's a review that shows that.

http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...1&limitstart=6

Just thought that I'd help clear that up, because its commonly missunderstood.

It's been widely discussed that the review was badly done.

There's a better one someone had...let me try to find it.

Found it http://techgage.com/article/cpu-cool...e-our-qx6850/6

I don't think you can accurately rate it based on that single review. I don't know how realiable a site Frosty Tech is since I've never really followed, but isn't it a little strange that the regular Ultra-120 performs better than the TRUE? I'm thinking something must have gone wrong or they received a very bad sample.

I was thinking that myself, there's no way in hell a TRU will perform better than a TRUE. Plus the TRUE's performance depends on the fan you strap on it.
