Oh man, don't ask that question, all the fanboys are going to say TRUE. I have had no problems with the zalman 9700 cooling my quads.

I have had both. The Zalman loaded my e6400 to around 55c, while the TRUE loads it at around 42c though it is lapped and adding another fan to it dropped to 42c from 45c. The Zalman is still an awesome cooler. If I were to choose on looks the Zalman wins, but the performance on the TRUE anostished me. I still think I got a faulty Zalman since it performed almost exactly the same as my Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

I would say TRUE, because I'm one of the fanboys.

On a more serious note, I would think that the 9700 is better than just the normal TRUE, however if you add a fan to the TRUE, it will perform better. If you add two in the push-pull method, then it will be even better.

I have both

Zalman good for about ~1.42v, TRUE good for about ~1.5v on the same Q6600.

I'm talking keeping the proc < 71°c during small ffts
Now for everyday normal usage, either will do.

Is this a trick question? Because I think the answer is TRUE, but now I'm left wondering!

Personally, I think the Zalman is an overpriced cooler considering there are cheaper ones out there that perform much better. The TRUE is def better.
