Default Blue Orb II experience with P5E3 Deluxe...

Today I went ahead to install it on my P5E3 Deluxe/wifi. It went on easily after total motherboard removal. That in of itself is a pita though. Easily cleared the huge copper heatsinks on and around the NB/CPU. Did not post after installation at first but I am sure that it had to do with the 4 lead cpu fan controller; I had read about this problem in another thread. I reset the cmos after using the Intel stock cooler fan in a position blowing air down towards the ram. Temps dropped 10+ dregrees all around. And the AS5 hasn't cured yet. mildly tightening down the NB and SB cooler. Eventually I am going for a complete removal and TIM replacement. Also going to dich the other pushpin locks with standard nut&screw. Now idles at 25c, #3 core idles at 28-30c while the other three are between 34 to 38c. Will post loading temps after I prime abit.

Not bad performance for a 12.99 cooler from here http://www.thermaltakeshop.com/ref/ref-cooler.html

Not to bad for a cheap cooler as long as load temps are ok.

highest load in prime95 is 56c for one core, others average 49/52c, one only goes to 45c loaded. Not to bad. I am going to buy some more as it is ideal for midtower setups without alot of room. Obviously it might not fit all boards but the golden orb is a little smaller and cools real well also second choice for 9 bucks.

Going to lap onem although the finish on it was alot better than others I have gotten. Especially for a copper base.

I thought you liked yours. Wasn't it the DFI x38 board that you hated? Its been running 24/7 since I got it, but I have only done mild overclocking so far. So was it the gigabyte x38 the one you love the best?

I saw one of these in a radio shack nearby today. Much larger than I expected. It seems to be well constructed, looks like good quality, glad you like it
