Hey guys, ive got the Foxconn 590 SLI C51XEM2AA motherboard and ive noticed that the southbridge heatsink is always very hot when i touch it. I cant check the temps because most of the temperature readings on 590's are bugged. I had a Gigabyte 570 Sli before and its passive chipset cooler was crap and caused it to burn out after an overnight stress test.
Basically, i dont want to go down the same route as the 570 so i want to replace the southbridge cooler on my mobo. anyone got any suggestions of some good air coolers for this mobo. The northbridge cooler is good because it has a fan on it so it can remove heat so that doesnt need replacing but the SB does. Also if possible could you link me to a page where the item can be shipped to the UK. ![]()

There are no temp sensors on the Southbridge.
![]() How about the always popular Evercool VC-RE?

. Didnt think they did, i wasnt sure if it was the 'Aux' reading on coretemp or if it just didnt have one. It feels hot when im idling so im scared of how hot it is at full load. never checked. Also, i dont know if the NB coolers fit on it. I have limited space on the mobo because of the PCI slots. Heres a picture of where it is, Its the black block above the pcie slot. ![]() If you think it will fit, ill probably get a Evercool VC-RE. =]

The black heastink is on your Northbridge... not SB. Get a Thermalright HR-05 for it.
The AUX temp is your VRM or motherboard temps... not your SB temps.

Haha so it is. Sorry =]
I dont think that thermalright one will work, i have a big typhoon which takes up a lot of room. Plus its fairly expensive for what it is. Its about £25-30 including postage and vat which is $50 to 60 Any other cheaper suggestions? ![]() Edit: Id like one with a fan already attached/provided. I have none lying around.
