Static...wondering about that. Not sure how I'd find out if it'll be a problem.
As for build pics, I need the case, once thats here I'll be documenting / asking for info on what you guys think, this project is a little off the wall, and sure I can think of quite a lot but as for classical application I don't know if all my ideas will hold up, and with just one Rocketfish I can't mess up!

your ideas are amazing! and i quite agree that you can never push air cooling far enough, i guess the deciding factor is just how much noise you ( or your wife
) can put up with in the room. my missus allways kicks up a fuss when my dual pci exhaust clicks on! but if the noise is no problem, then cool away!by the way, im really loving your 'fish gills' idea, if you can get that to work well, ide love to see it!!!!! i have a box of springs here, originally to keep the memory card doors closed on my xbox 360 which i think would do the job. as for the heatpipe if you were to etch a groove into the top of the pipewhere you could seat some 0.25mm copper plate i think that would work pretty well? just an idea. cant wait to find out how you get on!!!!! + rep for you!

Now that is perfect, I was going to end up stringing them on from the top with holes through the plate, but that + a little solder would be just the thing I'm looking for! Thanks!

no worries m8! just remember to 'key up' the edge of the plate where your gonna solder with some fine grit paper so it forms a solid joint. sorry if thats a bit obvious, but dont want your rig to fail on a rookie mistake lol, thats normally my trick lol

Case has arrived, and wow, this thing is beastly huge!
My poor PSU cables hardly reach the mobo properly, hopefully the rain stops tommorrow so I can begin drawing up my layout, but from what it looks like I'll be having the blower on top of the case blowing down directly on the CPU. As for everything else its up in the air, but this thing is like a wall, so I'll probably mod a window into it!

Build pictures!
Over the past few days I've been laying out how this is going together. And just today I finally went down to the drill press and went to work! ![]() Top plate done, now for some shake protection, I just used some screws with rubber spacers, on a side note the final product is very very shakey, and well thats where a lot of the noise is coming from so I'll have to look into fixing that. ![]() ![]() ![]() Attacted to the comp looks quite amazing, and works like a beast! To do list, PAINT the thing, its well not pretty. Fix vibrations, I really need some help here on this one, maybe if I add structure to the top sheet of metal, but thats about all I know, and well I'm wondering if my HDDs will be effected by the overall case vibration! HEATSINKS! I'm looking into possibly ordering a Vendetta 1, I can't cough up to much cash at the moment. But I also have 2 old broken AC's outside that have a pretty wonderful front Heatsink, I'm tempted to cut the thing up and fit it into the case, maybe run copper piping from my CPU / GPU to it, see if I can pull heat off the components. This alone droped my CPU temps by nearly 15c idle, and around 10c loaded. And thats with just the 2 stock Rocketfish case fans as exaust, (exaust needs some work, seems I'm blowing boatloads of air our all possible vents )

I'll be posting pictures of the AC's and maybe a mock up of what I'm thinking of attempting, just not sure how far copper effectively will transfer heat from a location, if I'm going to have poor transfer then getting it into the fins and out of the case will be a pain!
