Default Thermal Electric Cooler, worth it?

I'm currently running the listed HSF on my Q6600 and I was just browsing and came across this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...4&Sku=ULT33186

Do you think this is worth the investment? I'll be building my dad a computer so I could use the Zalman on his and that one on my current sig rig.

I don't know but for $129 bucks, it a pretty steep investment if it does not pan out!

Edit: Ok, did some quick rsrch for ya and it get's mixed results based on price point (checked out BigBruin reviews/Legit Reviews and Benchmark reviews). One thing that could be bothersome is how the fan ramps up/ramps down based on cpu load and this might be annoying to some folks. Otherwise, it may be considered a good cooler somewhere in between air coolers and water cooling. Here are some pros/cons from Benchmark reviews (http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...limitstart=5):

Pros:
+ Extremely attractive design
+ Excellent construction
+ Well engineered components
+ Convenient color shift controller
+ Excellent cooling at idle load
+ High-quality materials
+ Three-year warranty
+ Attractive finish and accents

Cons:
- Must remove motherboard for installation
- Very large and heavy
- Cooling performance under full load
- Extremely expensive product
- Very noisy cooling fan

Ratings:
Presentation: 8.5
Appearance: 9.75
Construction: 9.25
Functionality: 8.5
Value: 5.5
Final Score: 8.3 out of 10.

If it were me, I would stick to air cooling with a nice big fat cfm fan (or 2) on the cooler!

it depends on what you will be using it for. If your overclocking, I would go with this. It brings together the best of both worlds, Liquid cooling and TEC cooling. I bought it last week, and im getting 20*c idle, and it reaches 29/30 on peak loads (1 hour on cs:s). If it is gonna be used just for word processing/ entertainment , etc and as you mentioned on a Q6600, I would go with this : http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...1&srkey=Gemini
and two 120 MM fans!

IMO your better off getting a Xigmatek or True the reviews I ahve read say it is almost their equal for a lot more money.

It's not really worth it in my opinion. You can pick up a TRUE, Xigmatek HDT-S1283, OCZ Vendetta 2, or a Sunbeam Core-Contact Freezer for a fraction of the cost of that TEC and it'll perform just as well if not better.
