The Panaflo H1 is definitely audible (not too bad. The Panaflo M1 is probably your best choice without a fan controller if you don't want something too noisy.

Sound is so subjective that I'd say the only real way to find out is to try out different fans. One person's silent is another person's loud. It really depends on your ears and how much background noise you have, but if the PC is sitting right beside you on the desk, I'd say 35db is going to be bothersome. It'd be like a medium sized desk fan blowing all day.

Again it's all subjective. For me, anything over 30db is too loud and becomes bothersome after a while (my PC is also right beside me), but for xxhaloownerxx, 35db is "almost silent". I'd tend to lean on the side that you'd find most 35db fans too loud.

As for a fan, it really depends on how much you plan on overclocking. An e8400 being dual core and 45nm, it's not going to generate as much heat as a quad or a dual 65nm. From my experience, any fan, static pressure or not, is going to do fine on a TRUE unless you'll be doing some seroius overclocking. If you are, then you'll want something 38mm thick with static pressure.

If you want quiet, I'd say try a Slipstream M or a Yateloon SL and see how your temps do. You'll barely hear those fans.

I have this on my TRUE now. It's an awesome fan, but it's loud at 2000rpm. If you have a fan controller, around 1300-1600rpm would work great.

btw, which armor case will you be getting? If it's the old 8003 model with the 25mm side fan, the TRUE isn't going to fit without quite a bit of modifications. I had to do a lot to get it to fit properly.

Only one vote for the Silverstones? I'll second the vote with an FM121 recommendation. I use two in a push-pull orientation and they come with the fan controllers.

Agreed. I just recently switched from AC7 Pro to the TRUE with FM121 and I noticed a drop of 7C at idle and over 11C under load. It took a little modification of my FM121 since the fan holes were solid through, but a Dremel and about ten minutes made short work of that... Works quite well, and the fan controller lets me turn up the fan when I want to game or bench and turn it down when I don't want the extra ambient noise (though it's pretty quiet already).

If you're using a pair of these fans, the mounting trick is to use small zip-ties. Pull one tie through bothe fans and attach the other tie to the end of the first one. Really, all you need from the second zip-tie is the head, so you can snip the rest off and it looks nice and neat.

Ditto on this, I have the Ultra Kaze 2000 on my Vendetta cooler and run it at 1650rpm and the noise is no issue at that speed. Here you can see it in action:



My rig is on the floor to the right of my desk, has 6 case fans (plus the Ultra Kaze) and is pretty silent...sounds like an air conditioner @ around 30dbs. Running the fan at 2000 rpm is louder than the rest of my case fans and can be heard over them so running it on a fan controller is a good idea.

The Ultra Kaze 3000 was just overkill for me by the way.
