Hey
I have just installed my TRUE heatsink, and the 4 screws are fully tightened, yet the heatsink will move around slightly if nudged. Is this normal? Any help would be cool! ![]()

Yes that is normal. If you want, you can add a washer about the thickness of a penny under the mounting bracket. This will add additional pressure and tighten the connection. Your temps may also improve a few degrees.

Tighter ( = higher pressure exerted on CPU IHS) is better.
![]() sunburn39's tip is very good and quite effective.

Q: How tight should the TRUE be?
A: As tight as a virg...wait maybe i shouldn't finish this on OCN. Real answer, it should be tight enough to have pressure over the whole chip, there are some threads on washer/penny mods to increase the pressure applied on here.

As the above have stated. It's normal to slide around a little, in order to get it to stop you have to do a tiny mod. It's really up to you. As long as there is good contact, you should be fine.

ah ok. Is there a mod guide anywhere, or is it just a case of placing the washer under the mounting bracket? When you say mounting bracket, that is the one that goes UNDERneath the MB? Surely you don't place the washer in-between the MB and the bracket, would that not be risky having the washer in contact with and squashed against the MB?
EDIT: mine was a swine to fit too. I have some nice thermalright fin cuts on my thumbs too. What worries me more is that the TRUE was sliding around like mad and in the arctic silver 5 guide it says try not to move it more than 1-2 degrees clockwise / anti-clockwise. Will this have a massive effect? The TRUE never lost contact with the CPU at any point. I just wanted it to be nice and neat :-(

The washer mod, using the stock TRUE mounting gear is a definite improvement regarding mount pressure. Do it.
For even more mount pressure, you can also completely modify the TRUE mounting system as shown below: ... ![]() ... ![]() ... ![]() ... ![]() ... Now *that* TRUE don't spin when you push it. ![]()
