How is it with push/pull config on the sink? Is it much louder?

How loud is yours, can you hear it from your normal pc-using position?

Also, can you get the fan to slow down with speedfan or through the BIOS?

With the stock fan on full speed I literally CAN'T hear it, even if I try. Maybe I'm slightly deaf, I dont know, but I couldn't hear it on push pull either. The fans are 55cfm and 18dba each. P/P dropped temps 2c, just to be noted.

aaaand its a 3 pin, not a 4 pin fan so it cannot be slowed via PWM but speedfan or something maybe, never used it. I have a fan controller.

This is why Noctua wins;

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2007/12..._for_nh-u12p/1
Quote:
"Since we've introduced the NH-U12P, we've received numerous requests from customers who'd like to use our new cooler in AMD servers and older socket 939 systems", reports Mag. Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO. "The world of servers and workstations is of particular interest for us and of course, we don't want to keep users of older systems from choosing our NH-U12P as well. That's why we've decided to send free K8 & socket F mounting kit to NH-U12P users on request."
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/06...alem-coolers/1
Quote:
Austrian designer of silent coolers, Noctua, will soon offer LGA1366 mounting kits not only for the current range of coolers, but for all Noctua products dating back to 2005. Not only that, but they will be simpler to use – the bolts will be pre-attached to the brace-plate, and they'll simply use thumbscrews to ready the mount, before using larger sprung screws for the compression.

Noctua hasn’t yet decided, but the mounting kits might be offered from anything from free to a small, few-euro service charge to current customers who want it. We certainly can’t fault the company’s excellent service here – especially since it now means upgrading will cost you next to nothing rather than a whole new cooler.
Only shame is that they include a fan instead of letting the user take that cost and selecting one themselves. I don't know, do they offer fanless packages as well?

See i'm having trouble controlling my fans through Speedfan and BIOS options. Looks like i'm going to have to install my fan controller. Joy.

I've 3 Noctua fans in my machine, and while the push a lot of air, they seem to make more noise than my old TT Thunderblades. Maybe its the new case, who knows.

Only for their cihpset cooler(s?). All their CPU coolers come with fans. They also come with some very high-quality thermal compound, two nice resistors-on-a-wire, and some decent (if a bit finicky) rubber fan mounts. Whatever else you can say about Noctua, they provide one of the most complete packages of any other cooler manufacturer out there.

Why is that a shame? They're great fans, whether you use it or not is up to you but its not bad to have around. I ended up using mine on my Accelero S1 gpu cooler. Great fans!
