Well my ambient is like 27C right now. That can't be helping temps at all.

The thermaltake fan is pretty low CFM...pretty sure it's lower than the Noctua fan that came with the heatsink. I know i could go out and get 2 really high CFM fans for it, but then it'll be loud...and i like my peace and quiet when i'm working on homework.

With a nearly 30c ambient those temps are pretty solid!

Ok, update time! I've got 3.45GHz at 1.375v going good for 3 hours on prime95. Still a 27C ambient and temps are 68,68,60,60.

Try to keep it under 65 on any core to be safe, it's pushing the limit. Lapping or changing to a bigger fan will definitely do that, or you can lower your OC until winter hits.

edit: Winter in California? Well it must be at least a bit colder.

Eh...i've ran it at the limit of 71C on stress tests since June '07 when i built the thing, and its never had a problem yet!

Yeah...winter in nor cal does get pretty cold at nights. I remember i cracked the window one night and was idling at 19C lol.

It's already lapped, if you look at my pics a few posts back. I guess i could get a couple high CFM fans, but won't that be kinda loud?

I keep my UK-3000 at 1700rpm normally and I tolerate it until 2200 rpm, after which it gets loud, so I can suggest the UK-2000 or sacrifice a bit of performance from pressure and get an S-Flex with RPM of your liking.

So if i buy 2 of these high CFM fans, what kind of temp drops should I get coming from the stock fan pushing and the old thermaltake fan pulling?

I would only buy one as the second would likely only take 1-3C off, but with one I would say up to 5C off.

Ah ok. So i should use the stock fan for the pushing and the new high CFM fan for the pulling, correct?

Ultra Kaze for pushing, and for pulling I would put nothing. I don't think you would notice a difference since the Ultra Kaze is higher rpm. If you do, put the highest cfm fan you have (I forget if it's the Thermaltake or the Noctua) but yeah I would have the UT alone to save a bit of noise.
