Just apply a small dot, or something that looks like this.

http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...1&limitstart=4

Use either the dot, line, or 2 line method. I prefer the line, myself...i feel the 2 lines is a little too much.

I'd use a small dot. Just an FYI, the base of my Noctua was horribly uneven (50C idle on stock settings) so i had to lap it. Check with a razor blade or some straight edge to make sure it's not.

The Noctua TIM is better than AS5 in my experience.

You think it would be possible to do some sort of mod that would increase the pressure? I'm asking because my base was so uneven that i had to lap enough material off to get it flat that the heatsink doesn't fit as tight as I'd like. I can twist it a little bit and I don't like that. I don't think there's a washer mod for this cooler though..but any ideas?

Also i hate that my Q6600 loads cores 0 and 1 9C higher than cores 2 and 3, but no matter which way i turn the heatsink it's still the same. Must just be a weird chip then...

Double post, but if anyone wanted to know how far you can push a really hot CPU on this cooler, here it is. Not bad I'd say. 22C ambient

And you can see my horrible 10C difference between the cores...idk what causes that.

is that with only the stock fan? and, correct me if im wrong, but i think the difference between cores is caused by one side of the heatpipes being higher than the other...?

It's with antec tri cools. They knocked off 4C from the load temp. So i guess technically you'd want to add 4C back onto there if you used the stock fans, but then again, my current case has really bad airflow.

I wonder how 2 1200rpm/69cfm/24db Slipstreams would do on this badboy in a Push/Pull config.....
