The mixed fan setuop will be temporary, because hopefully Petra's will get back to me about those 88 CFM Yate Yoons...I really hope they can get me 3 of those with red LEDs Well, it is already ordered, so I might as well use it. Guess I'm too used to stock stuff being bad.

Go with the higher speed if you are looking for pure performance.

Even if the higher CFM fan is pushing? I could see how the pulling fan would have its lifespan decreased if it was slower than the pushing fan, but vice-versa?
I guess I'll just take your advice and run single fan, though I wasted $5 plus shipping for that Rosewill fan then. ![]() Oh well, I'll see how I like the Rosewill fan, and maybe order two more of them, if Petra's can't get me those Yate Loons I want in red.

Running two different fans in push/pull will indeed kill one before the other prematurely.
Also, the NT-H1 thermal paste that comes with the Noctua will outperform the AS5 any day of the week, but about 3-4*C. I have tested it personally. The best pastes to get are actually IC7 Diamond, OCZ Freeze, TIM Consultants TC Grease 0098, and Arctic Cooling MX-2. All of these perform within a degree of each other, and about 5-7*C better than AS5. The Rosewill fan is not a waste, as it is always good to have extra fans lying around in case a fan dies on you.

Then I will....The AS5 thermal paste is not a waste, as it is always good to have extra TIM around in case your thermal paste dies on you ![]() Wait, that doesn't sound right. Who ever heard of TIM dying? LOL Just to warn you, I got some of the blue 88 CFM fans (from Jab-Tech) to use in push-pull on my Noctua and they both make a low pitch squealing noise, even if I turn them down. I got rid of them for a single Zalman ZM-F3, and did not see any difference in temps.

I just bought a new cooler for my signature rig, which means this Blue Orb II will go to my secondary rig which is, at the moment, running my stock Q6600 cooler. My stock Q6600 cooler will then go in my Dad's rig to replace his stock E1200 cooler. Fresh paste is always good.

Oh man, I have so much thermalpaste lyin around.
1x AS5 3g 2x Shin Etsu 2.5g 1x Zalman "Super" Paste 1x Gelid 4g tube 1x Arctic Cooling MX-2 30g tube (will never run out...omg 30g so much TIM lol) 1x OCz Freeze 3g 2x Noctua NT-H1 (think thats what its called) 3g 2x Tuniq TX-2 3g 1x Thermalright Ceramic 3g On the topic of fans, what the idea is that if you have an 80cfm pushing into a 60cfm fan, the 60cfm fan has no resistance and the motor will burn itself out due to no work. Its like turning a car upside down and flooring the accelerator. With no resistance if you just keep it floored, you're gonna burn out the engine ![]() However, if you have the 80cfm on the push and the 60cfm on pull you might be okay, because most of the fan's pressure is lost in the heatsink's fins anyways.
