the cooler is cold to the touch, so not sure if it is just misreporting the temps?

What are you using to read your temps?

The q9300 is 45nm am i right?
You need to use realtemp. NEED to use realtemp. Coretemp/everest/speedfan all read the TJmax 10c too high. Realtemp is the only monitor that reads 45nm properly. Use realtemp and it will read your TJ properly, and your temps properly.

That usually means the cooler isn't seated properly and heat isn't being transferred to the heatsink properly. A cold heatsink is worse than a hot one.

Got my stuff installed, will post pictures in a few when I get them transferred.
__________________The Noctua dropped my idle by ~10*C! I idle at 42 right now. At full load using prime95, I never go above 53*C; I used to idle at 53-54! I did not lap either the CPU or the HSF, but I plan on doing at least the CPU tomorrow. I made some other modifications to my case also. I did a better job with wire management.* I chopped the fan grills off my Armor Jr, god I hated those things. I wasn't going to replace my fans, but one broke during set-up and I had to run to Frys anyways, so I got 2x Blue LED Antec Tri-Cools (only because that's all Frys had and they were on sale). If I run the fans on low setting, and the Noctua on full speed, when I'm sitting here (<1m from my case), all I hear is my VGA cooler, it's quite nice. *The ThermalTake Armor Jr. is a pain in the butt to work with when trying to hide wires. There's hardly anywhere for them to go! Pics of my solutions will be posted as well. (I should probably post somewhere else with pictures of a case mod/cable revamp, huh?)

been off an on half a dozen times now with no real difference, thermal paste is spreading evenly, so contact is being made. the quick lap yesterday showed that the sides were bowed upwards, leaving a hollow in the middle, now, hopefully, flat
