i voted to leave the side panel off. i know it gets dusty but i clean my case maybe once a month anyway. drops temps anywhere from 4C to 7C. its just too hot here to leave the side panel on. i even dropped my OC back to 3.2ghz.

Since it is between the mounting hardware and the base of the heatsink, the thought is that it places additional pressure on the CPU for better contact.

I am not sure if the poster who you commented knew the reason for using the washer, but he was just saying that adding the washer would not cause the TRUE to increase in height. Since it is between the top of the base of the TRUE and the mounting hardware it only applies pressure without increasing the height of the heatsink. It only makes sense that the TRUE did not fit within the case in the first place.

I say lap your TRUE and CPU to get rid of that 0.3'' that you added.

Either that or mod the panel, or go without a TRUE, since with or without the washer, the TRUE won't fit.

*Throws the CPU in a pool of liquid nitrogen*

Personally I would lap it and see if the case fits back on... Open cases are kinda...pointless, y'know?

I mean get a rack if you want open air, just don't but a case then leave it open....you payed for the door too lol.
