Depends on you, you'll probably get more dust with the side panel up which can be worse I believe.

I accidently chose -2c, I didn't read anything yet.

I thought it was going to be -2c drop side panel shut or go for -2c drop plus temp difference with side panel open.

Maybe try and get a smaller sized washer?

I'm tempted to say your temp drop is coming as much, if not more, from having the side panel open that the washer. I'd take the washer off and be happy with the 2c higher.

Cut a hole where the side panel hits the TRUE and stick a 120MM fan on the outside of the hole. That way you can close your case, and enjoy the -2C drop or more!

You can try a different sized washer. Hard to tell from the pic, but you really only need something the thickness of a penny or so. I'm surprised that washer made that much of a difference. That must have been a tight fit.

I'll go against the majority and say I like to believe it's better to keep the panel on because it's easier to cool a smaller area than a large one. My temps are pretty much the same with the panel on/off, but my temps are more consistent and don't fluctuate as much idle/light load with it on.

That being said, judging from your other post about bad airflow, you'd probably be best to keep it off.
