Default Xigmatek HDT-S1283 + Crossbow

I have the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 and the Crossbow Bolt Through Kit… but looking at all the parts that come with each it just baffles my brain how this is going to work with mounting.

Here’s what you get…

HDT-S1283:

HDT-S1283 x1
120MM Fan x1
Push-Pin x2 (Won’t be needed due to Crossbow)
Fan Cable x1

Crossbow:

Back plate x1
Screws x2
Brackets x2 (In place of Push-Pin)

I have looked at both sets of instructions and well there just plain pants… But I’m assuming that I take the threaded bolts out of the bracket and put them through the back plate/mobo and then seat the HS on top of them, then put the springs on top of that and then the washers and nuts on top of that and tighten it down.

Its been a while since my last build!!

Edit: If you know anything about how to install a Thermalright Bolt-Thru Kit for 775 then you should be able to help me out as apparantley there very much alike and you can use a TR kit on the Xigmatek.

its simple really, i just installed one a few days ago

hopefully you purchased the correct crossbow as there
are 2 kinds, one for the S1283 and the S1284. here is a
link to the appropriate crossbow http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835233019

in short all you do is remove the previous cooler obviously
attach the back plate to the back of the mobo, the double
stick tape is there to help hold it in place during the install
personally i dont use it, that way it makes it easier to remove
in the future if needed.

now that the back plate is in, you remove the old retention
plate (the 2 plates with the push pins) and replace that with
the new ones, attach them in the same fashion as they are
nearly identical besides having the bolts held in place with rings

the bolts have a limit so they will only screw so far. after attaching
the 2 new retention plates (the ones with the bolts attached) you
simply just tighten down the S1283, i suggest you put the cooler
on without fans, it will ease the install.

i hope that helps, so again

1. backplate in
2. remove old mount brackets
3. mount new mount brackets
4. put the cooler back onto the mobo and tighten with a philips screw driver w/ out the fan
5. tighten alway down to the maximum point (which isnt too tight as it is limited)
6. put the fan back on

thats about it

cheers

Can you do any sort of push-pull with the Xigmatek or is the TRUE the only one that can do that? I am considering just spending the money for a TRUE in these hot days and I just want to make sure I am getting a good heatsink. I would get the Xigmatek except I want to do push-pull. If push-pulll is not that important or sparks much of a difference, which is better for just push or just pull and which of the latter is better?

Cool... I was just over thinking the whole process but it just seemed way to simple to work effectively and hold the HS tight.

+Rep for you lot

Sorry to bump an old thread...

But I got the Xigmatek S1283 and its a b*tch to install!
I got the Thermalright LGA775 Bolt-Thru-Kit with it for mine.

How do you guys install this thing so easily?
I already removed the Xiggy's original push pins, lined up the brackets with the xbow at the back, but I can't seem to get the spring loaded screws on! I tried attaching one side first, then attempted to screw in the other side diagonal of it, but failed.

Whats retarded is that the holes on the xbow only has teeth near the bottom (top half of the hole has nothing for the screw to grip onto). There is a half a centimeter gap between the bracket and the motherboard/xbow, and the strong resistant springs on the screws aren't helping with the "easy" installation either...
