Well the 1283 heat pipe runs right down the middle the 1284 has a lil space and does not run down the middle as much.

No...

Well I just order S1283 for the Egg. I also ordered 3 Yate loon 88's from Jab-tech I am so excited to receive these now I just need to order my MB & Cpu.
Will the push pins hold it for now until I can afford the bolt through?

Well... of course it will hold it. The real problem is that the pins tend to put a lot of pressure on the motherboard and the motherboard tends to flex as you force (push) the pins through. I don't think they'd ship it with the heatsink if it didn't work but none the less... the retention kit is a must as these are pretty heavy heatsinks. I just don't trust the push-pins.

Got this for my E8400. Haven't tried OC'ing yet because I didn't want to try anything until my whole system is complete and everything (don't know why really). Was thinking of putting 2 panaflos on it but realized I would also want to watercool my system sometime this year and figured I should just save the money.
