I guess I lapped mine... Not sure it did anything though... I used 2000 grit sandpaper.

Mine should be here today, no bolt thru kit. I hear it's really hard to get off, and I'm getting a new board by the end of the year

Greetings, I've just put in this heatsink on my e8400 and am getting quite high temps. This is WITHOUT overclock, stock settings. I haven't done any calibrations or anything (partially cause I don't know how) but I get 44-45C idle from SystemFan and Realtemp and HWMonitor and Coretemp say 49-50C. Clearly way too hot =/
Here's a few pics after I took the sink off, the TIM spread looks fine, certainly not bad enough to justify the temps I got. Does anyone have any ideas to help? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...r/P7270409.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...r/P7270410.jpg The heatsink was oriented with the fan pointing upwards (there are vents at the top of the case) and the heatpipes are positioned so that the center heatpipe goes along the line that the cores make. http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appi..._dual_wcap.pdf If you scroll down the instructions you'll see the line that they suggest to put arctic silver on, my center heatpipe runs right on that line. My ambient is like 24C and my case is the Coolermaster CM690. If I touch the heatsink when running it's barely warm, I can easily touch the heatpipes without burning or anything like that. I also have the boltthrough kit. Can anyone help? Last edited by cixelsyD : 07-28-08 at 12:07 AM |

I am having similar problems as cixelsyD. I just installed my Xig HDT-1283 and I feel like I should be getting lower temps. Right now I'm getting 48c 46c 39c and 40c across my four cores. These temps are almost identical to the temps I was seeing with stock cooling. Her are some crappy iphone pics of my case layout. Oh, and I used AS5 and I followed the directions for putting on the thermal paste online. Thanks.
http://img261.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photoji4.jpg http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photo2fb0.jpg http://img530.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photo3zc7.jpg *Edit* So I decided to remount my heatsink and low and behold, I actually put too little AS5 on. So after re applying the paste and re mounting, my temps are down to 39c, 37c, 31c, and 34c. I'm glad I remounted .
