Default HSF Review

Alright guys, i'm a little disappointed by my xigmatek's performance due it's odd mounting on my motherboard so i'm in the market for a new budget cooler. i have a little extra cash and i'm willing to let you guys vote for which one I should buy. Nothing ridiculous please, I want something practical, as this is intended for someone on a budget. Once I get it, I'll post a full review including installation pictures and performance. So have at it.

Blah frosytech!

I would focus on getting it to mount properly rather than blowing money on another cooler. If you want better there's the Vendetta 2 or TRUE, but try pressure mods and see if that helps.

It's not the pressure. It's the fact that to cooler doesn't sit correctly. Instead of blowing out the back, it's facing my video card. This is because the AM2 mounting tabs are on the top and bottom. Because of this, the base does not cover the entire processor. The xig has a rectangular bottom, designed to be positioned to exhaust out the back.

Why waste the money on a whole new hsf when you could just buy a bolt thru system so you can mount it aimed at the exaust fan right behind it and get a higher pressure mount in the process

Since you can't mount it like you want to (limitation of your mobo)
either look at this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185125
ot this one (I haven't seen it yet):

The first one would probably give you the same if not worse temps. The second one I have also yet to see in action.

Honestly I would invest in a new mobo instead but that's just me..

I don't need a new mobo as I'm not looking for bleeding edge performance, just better temps.

The duke had a link for a deal on the OCZ vendetta 2 for $25 the other day.. I think it was at microcenter (he also said that if you went to the store, that they'd sell it for $19.99... pretty sweet deal). You might try that... it performs a little better than the Xig too.

the v2 and xig share mounting systems so that won't do any good. i just won a couple silverstones 120mm on ebay for $5 a pop, and i think I may go with this one.
