Hello. I had an idea today to use aluminum foil as ram heat spreaders!
__________________Got some foil, folded it into a ram sized rectangle, then rubbed it on the floor to make it a bit smooth ^_-. There's the ram also (2GB, 667MHz)  How the task of attaching them! IDEA!  grr, got them out!  Stuck some paper in beetween the clips for an extra snugg fit!  And thats what what do , in the ghettooooo They seem to work, oced from 667Mhz to 830, will be testing for stability now ^_^

Dont plug that ram in unless you wanna toast it. surely you realize that aluminium foil IS conductive...

Please...Dont...the ram will short and could possibly die..this really is'nt a good idea.

RAM cooling is a pointless unless you're pumping a lot of voltage through em (like >= 2.1v).

i guarantee you are getting worse temps because i bet the foil isnt even touching the ram in the middle. therefore keeping the heat in.

Well as long as it only touches the black parts this could work. Thing is it looks like he clipped it onto the silicone and on top of that it is not in contact with the heat-producing black thingies.

PS, the ram is WORKING. It is making contact with all of the black boxes, and NOT touching any circuitry. 830 OC was unstable , but 800 has been stable for 2 hours.

Not too bad of an idea, but you do need thermal tape in between the foil and ram chips.

Wow you guys aren't holding back on the poor kid are you? On the other hand, I would take that foil off immediately and buy the $5 sinks linked to in one of the other posts. I'm all for thinking outside the box and trying new concepts but this one has a serious flaw (i.e. conductivity) and I think OCN is trying to tell you in it's own special way
