So, basically it is an idea I might have for her birthday. She wants one and I thought that I would build it for her! MADE WITH LOVE! lol ok anyhow, too the point.

I don't really know a budget yet but she will want it for basic gaming, maybe like an MMORPG, internet usage, some GIS (3d program for her work), music and videos. I want to do a secondary hard drive for her music, ect.. as well. I would prefer to use Intel and either Nvidia/ATI graphics card is fine.

I am going to go ahead and guess it will need to be somewhere around 500-1000 but I am not sure.

No overclocking though.

I will probably get her vista but 32 bit. Will 2gb of memory suffice for that?

I'd like to see a few builds and will definitely appreciate it!

P.S. - she says the side windows look cool on a case... fyi

Thanks for your help in advanced!

well the antec 900 would be a good case selection. it has a window and all the cooling you could need. maybe an evga 680i with like a e6850 dual core (last years so cheaper) a 500 gb hard drive, 8800gt (or a little cheaper 8600gts) stock cooling hsf. 2gb or ram is suffice. i would go with xp but vista 32 is good. oh and a corsair 450W PSU would be a nice build. Like 500-700 bucks too!

You should maybe opt for a 3870 for her if she's going to be playing MMORPG's. Although the 4850's price is very cheap nowadays, the 3870 is still a great deal.

2GB is plenty of RAM for Vista. It's all good

For the CPU, you could get her an E7200 and she'll be fine also.

If you keep the stock cooling, get the TR bolt thru kit.

Don't get vista 32, odds are if she is into 3d she will probably need more ram in the future. Good luck telling her she needs to buy the SAME os over again... Go 64 bit, its the same price...

Don't worry about a 2nd HDD, just put in a 500 or 750GB and Partition it so it will be seen as a 2nd drive. Get a antec 300 (cheap), get a aftermarket cpu fan (cooler is better) xig 1283 or ac7. Get a q6600 cheap & allows for her to do 3d/music/virus scan/etc all at once.
