Exclamation 31" Box Fan On A Computer:Tested

Hello everyone. Today I was walking back from getting food i spotting a box fan. It measures 31 inches across.I decided to test it on my rig to see if it would lower my temperatures. I tried it blowing the air into the case, sucking air out of the case and stock( just the computers regular cooling). Test rig is the one in my sig.

The Fan

The Rig

E2180 @ 3.2Ghz lapped cpu ,XFX 680i SLI mobo ,2GB@ 722Mhz ram, 500GB 7200RPM Seagate SATA II hard drive,Gemini II CPU heatsink With Two 120MM Fans @ 10 000 RPM, two 8800GT 750/1800/1025 clocks (core/shader/memory) , one XFX Zalman Edition, one BFG

The Fan + The Rig

Testing

NOTE: Fan will be set to the highest speed for all tests
3dmark06 will be used to place load on the components!

Stock(normal system, no big fan)

Fan Blowing Into The System

Fan Sucking Air Out Of The System

Conclusion

With the fan blowing air into the system, temperatures were held in. After 5 minutes after the 3d mark test , with the fan still going, the card was at 62 degrees. Throughout the test, there wasn't any real conclusive results regarding cooling the CPU. However there were for the video cards. The fan sucking hot air out reduced the video card at stock with no fan temps from 78*c to 68*c. The results speak for themselves!

Other notes: Its amazing what people throw out

That won't do anything except make noise because there's no exhaust improvement.

1: I don't care about noise because 99 percent of the time i have my headphones on , and 2: its being used to suck hot air out

i did the same thing with my computer(although its 20.5" and blowing into the case) drops temps by about 30c. my gpu runs 43c idle with the fan and without its about 65c. its a good alternative to phase and water if ya dont have the money also nice results. i think cpuid is just a few degrees off with your temp

Wrong, if u have it far enough off of the case, a fan of that size with have enough force for the wind its generating to deflect off of the case shooting every which way some going out some staying.
