I use mx-2 on all my builds it's non conductive so you don't have to worry about it shorting things. It has an 8 year life on your equipment idk how long as5 or 7 are supposed to last.

Example of my temps:
Phenom 9500 OCed @ 2.4 27 idle 37 load
AMD 5400+ OCed to 3.1 34 idle 44 load
With my Scythe Katana 2

System: Black Phantom
CPU
AMD 5400+ BE @ 3208Mhz

MSI K9A2 CF 790x

Thnx all for the help. Also from what i read today thermal paste is applied based on band or CPU {quad , Duo}?

Does this means the heat is not getting transferred well?
I have that heat sink and AC5 and i get a 53C Ilde but only 58C Load with 3.5 Ghz and 1.66V! If you touch the pipes or fins they are cold as can be? Heat does not get instde this heatsink very well!

I'm allways using THIS thermal paste. it's from noctua and performs really very well. Just read some reviews about this one, I like it.

That's an excellent suggestion.

You might also try shin-etsu microsi here

I've found you can net up to a 3 degree delta vs. arctic silver 5 with it.

Otherwise stick with the MX-2. it's nicer to work with, doesn't need to cure for as long, and does just as well, if not better than as5.

Well ATM with 24 ambient i get 42 idle but when its @ stock lowest it was 32C. Does this mean thermal paste has very significant factor on heat transfer
its not only the thermal paste but how much you put on and how you put it on. physics says that the smaller the amount on there, while still having a total coverage of the cpu will yield better results, as the heat is transferred quicker from the cpu to the heatsink. because cpu's and heatsinks are not perfectly flat, thermal paste is needed to fill the gaps. ideally 1 molecule of TP is perfect, but the gaps are sometimes bigger than 1 molecule so more tp is needed.

its all a game of luck, but spreading the thinnest possible layer of TP over the cpu, covering it completely is imo the best way to go. putting a little bit in the middle wont fully spread evenly across the whole cpu, causing your temps across the different cores to have larger differences. simple physics eh? lol

clean the cpu with some rubbing alcohol (at least 70%, 91% is very good). the cleaning fluid you get from the companies who sell the TP as well as this stuff are just making money for no good reason. there isnt any real difference between the 2.

I've found that with bolt on style coolers, the best results come from using 0.04 cc of thermal paste, applied as a thin strip (like a grain of rice) along the die's location under the IHS. You get just the right amount to cover the whole IHS.

Just to add to your alcohol comment, make sure it is unscented. the scented crap can leave behind some residue.
