So I have this laptop cooler
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834997312 and it doesn’t work for crap with my 5120 inspiron. It uses a USB port from the laptop so that it can be a hub so to speak with an additional 4 inputs. However, the little 40mm fans they use are also powered by that single USB port from the laptop. Each of those smaller 40mm fans read 0.16A and I am trying to install two slim 80mm fans I have lying around to help cooling but they are both rated for 0.26A. I guess the real question here is how many amps can you pull from the single USB port without going too overboard? I would like to hook up both (X2) 40mm and (X2) 80mm (0.32A and 0.52A= 0.84A total) I only use the other USB ports for jump drives, camera transfers, and obviously the cooling fans, regardless of their performance.

Unless you just happen to have a powered USB plug, I doubt you cna run those fans.
Standard USB is rated at 500ma@5v. You might look into getting a charger of some sort, and splicing it in to power the fans from an independent source, unless you wander with the laptop.
