Default Fan help, I'm retarted

Hey guys, I just ripped out alot of fans from my old case and I was planning to put them into my new one, problem is, they were exhaust fans and I can't remember which side they were installed, so how will I know which is the proper side for an exhaust fan?

Thanks :$

I don't know what you mean. Like you want to know which side of the fan is exhaust and which is intake..the sticker side is usually exhaust, open side is intake. If you mean where on the case, well you want intake on the front and exhaust on the back. The sides are up to you but usually down low you want intake for your gpu and higher up exhaust. Tops are usually exhaust.

Plug them in, turn the computer on, and feel which direction the air is flowing in. Turn the computer off, then install them in the appropriate direction.

99.999% of the time the side w/ the framing is the exhaust side. Also there's sometimes arrows indicating the direction of the airflow.

Not always.

Anyways, my more complicated approach: Check which way the fan scoops the air. Use a bit of logic, the curve has to be on the inside to push air out. If that doesn't work for you, stick your hand in the fanblade and go in a circle. If you can go around the whole way, that's usually the intake side. If your finger gets caught up in a piece of plastic going to the middles, that's usually the output side.

Most of the time. Basically just use all of the different methods here. None of them are necessarily right or wrong, but it all esle fails, start it up with the fan connected and feel where the air is blowing out. I would take a black marker and mark the airflow if it isn't already just for future reference.

rofl...as soon as i read "stick your hand in the fan blade" i followed up in my head with "and if your shirt gets stained red that's probably the exhaust."

The concave face of the blade is the exhaust side. . .on smaller fans this is harder to see.
