Default I need downgrade advice :(

Ok, this saddens me to do, but I need to downgrade.

I have a TRUE, it's lapped, washer-modded, and bolt-modded. It really does the job, and I hate to think of using anything else for air-cooling.

I know from reading around on here that the closest competitors to a lapped TRUE are only lacking by a couple of degrees in ideal circumstances.

But my new TJ07 came in, I'm excited about having my first removable MB tray. I mounted everything onto the tray, and when I went to slide it into place, the TRUE's height didn't allow it to get past the frame.

I was quite depressed. What this means is that the beauty of having a removable MB tray loses all meaning due to the fact that I have to mount my HSF after it's installed.

I've decided that I like my case better than the TRUE, and I'm willing to step down to one of the TRUE's closest competitors in order to retain my removable MB tray functionality.

Here's the list I've looked at, along with the dimensions: (measured in W x H x D)

Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
132mm x 160.6mm x 63.44mm
790 grams without fan

OCZ Vendetta 2
120mm x 159mm x 50mm
Weight unavailable

Xigmatek HDT-S1283
120mm x 159mm x 50mm (Is this the same thing as the Vendetta 2?)
Weight unavailable

Noctua NH-U12P
126mm x 158mm x 71mm
600 grams without fan

Noctua NH-U9B
96mm x 125mm x 70mm
460 grams without fan

Tuniq Tower
131mm x 108mm x 153mm
798 grams without fan

So I'm leaning towards the Tuniq Tower for now, since it's the shortest and I've heard that it and the Xigmatek most closely rival the TRUE.

So help me decide what I should get.

Is there anyone that has used one of these in a TJ07 and could tell me for sure that it fits?

I'm not sure about the Noctuas, but I read a review somewhere that had them near the top. That same review also held the Vendetta 2's in high esteem.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Vendetta2 is extremely close in many, many reviews that I have seen. A good choice if you wish to go that route.

However they are all great coolers, you are only looking at a slight few degrees difference between the lot. Can't go wrong with any of them.

I agree, those all did seem to fare well in all reviews that I read. But I need to know which one is best to go with for the size difference I need.

Whoops, sorry there, I didn't even pay any attentipon to the dimensions as I thought you only included ones that would fit.

Anyways, it does seem that the tuniq tower would be your safest bet. Most of those heatsinks hit nearly 160 cm.

Can you tell us roughly how much it needs to clear your case? Unless someone comes in here with the same case, we can't help you with clearance unless you give us some idea..

Yeah, that was my next order of business. I have to complete a few projects around the house here for the wife, then I'll take some measurements and let you know. Thanks!

Tuniq Tower's great, but Sunbeam's moved on to the popular 'Rifle' heatsink. Their latest heatsink, the Core Contact Freezer, beats out the Tower 120 by a substantial margin, and beats out the Vendetta 2 by ~2C.

But it's like Ducky said: They're all great coolers - can't go wrong with any of them.

go with what he said. it is great and i have seen it be the second HSF in many builds due to the fact that the TRUE's size which ultimately cripples it for many cases

I say go for the Vendetta 2. A very efficient cooler in my experience.
