Tomorrow I'll give it one more shot, this time wiping the cpu clean and trying just the HSF like in the picture. I'll post up results. Thanks for the input everyone.

Use just a little bit of TIM and you will be good to go, also I believe MX-2 requires a little time to cure and temps will go down, but 61 loading on a xig is way high. Go with sabermetrics idea for tim, he knows what hes talking about

I don't think it takes time to cure at all. That was just Arctic Silver 5. I don't know what to tell you though, Xigmatek is easily one of the best coolers, even for quads. Get a bolt thru kit?

auto may still mean that its running at close to 100%... I'm assuming you have have the 3000 rpm verison... even at auto, you may have it spinning at 2000 rpm, and around 80-90 CFM, which is still more than the stock xigmatek fan at 100%

That's among the so-so coolers though. Yes it is a good cooler but a Q6600 will still test it's limits once overclocked.
