you said right there your ambient was 35C, if you knew it was 23C why did you say 34C, how did you apply your TIM the second time

Reseat the cooler, and apply less TIM.

Needless to say I love my Xig. I am thoroughly impressed after 2 days use. If I wasn't so lazy I would test the stock fan and see what it could do. But its just to much work.

So, as a follow up, I just got my xigamatek bolt kit today. I put it on using the amount of tim in the picture saber posted. I must say, I'm very happy.
Been running prime95 for 30 min now on small ttf's and it's pretty much stuck at 57-57-51-52, and it occasionally drops to 56. 6 deg C may not be much, but 3ghz is my goal right now, and keeping it under 60 max load feels good. Also, earlier in the week after playing around a bit, I set my ram to 1066 (which it should be) instead of leaving it on auto, (noobie mistake) and I think thats where I'm seeing the biggest performance differences!! I tried unraring stuff before and after and I'd say there was probably a 5~10% dexrease in the amount of time it took after I adjusted it. Good times. |
