Can you please post a screnshot of CoreTemp with the system at load (to make sure SpeedStep isnt being used) so we can see the VID.

Edit: you just posted it LOL.

That 1.25v VID is a decent one, which means you have a good chance of OCing it above 3.5GHz. So I would think 3.6GHz is atainable. You will more then likely need 1.45v and higher for 3.6GHz, so make sure your cooling is up to the task.

ok so in bios you should go find speed step and c1e and disable them as it can cause problems with your oc.

here is a great guide for first time overclocking

to test if your overclock is stable download Prime95 and do a small ftt's test for a couple of hours.

OP,
With your P45, you are looking at the following voltages for a 400 FSB (which will get your Q6600 to 3.6GHz if your CPU can go that high):

NB voltage: 1.26v
FSB Termination voltage or VTT: 1.34v
Ram voltage: set to manufacturer's spec.
PLL: 1.54v
GTL Ref Voltage: (IDK what settings you have so I cant give you an exact seting, but for ASUS x.63 works best for quads)

Not really focussing on this as my intention is to only give you voltages for your motherboard to handle the 400 FSB OC with the Q6600.
It would really help if you took some pics of your bios settings, especially your voltages.

I'm DLing your manual now to see what it shows for the settings available in your bios...
vcore: you will have to test to find out, but as a minimum 1.45v are needed

OP, which P45 neo3 board do you have (there are a couple of models):
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?f...ywords=p45+Neo

edit: OP, you are going to have to describe the settings available for GTL REF voltage. All your manual says is:
Quote:
CPU Voltage (V)/ CPU GTL REF0 / CPU GTL REF1 / DRAM Voltage (V)/ MCH
Voltage (V)/ MCH GTL REF / VTT FSB Voltage (V)/ ICH Voltage (V)

These items are used to asjust the voltage of CPU, Memory, FSB and chipset.

I am only able to get mine up to 3.25 stable, no matter what I try I can't get past that. Even though it's a G0 stepping. Sucks to be me, because I've seen people easily get 3.4-3.5 on the IP35 Pro board that I have.

Your Zalman is probably holding you back, too. I couldn't take my Q6600 past 3.3GHz with it. Switched to the TRUE and now running 24x7 at 3.6.

Wow, I didn't realize the TRUE was that much better. Maybe I'll think about swapping coolers. Thanks!

quick question, im also trying to overclock my q6600 but my vid is 1.32 so im running 3.15 at 1.44v(uload) but i cant seem to get it stable with prime for more than 20 mins. I have CPU GTL at 65, FSB term at 25 and NB 1.43.. SB 1.55 something like that.. it wont be stable and i've bumped the vcore two or even three notches and nothing..

NightFalls, you should be able to reach 3.4 with your motherboard. Whats the VID on your chip. Also what is the temps are you at now with your cooler you have?
