Default Reseated Tuniq 10 times

I have reseated my tuniq 10 times! I have posted 5 threads and Ive tried everything there is to do. My temps are horrible!! I get 73c under load at 3.4Ghz with 1.36vcore! Tuniq tower is lapped razor blade flat as well as the cpu. I have tried putting on very little thermal paste which gives me around 50c idle (didnt even try load). With a larger amount I get much better temps but the best I have gotten with 10 reaseats is 73c under load! I have AS5 on the way as well as 2 more case fans. Both of which wont improve my temps more than a few degrees. I have also done the washer mod to make sure its really snug. The fan is turned to 100%. I have researched this for weeks and cant find a single answer other than reseat the heatsink, apply more/less thermal compound, lap, and the washer mod. I have run completely out of ideas. Has anyone had as much trouble as me and finally figured it out? I mean seriously, my cpu and heatsink are so flat they stick together with air suction!

Could be that the mobo isn't reading the temps right; or the CPU has an issue.

You know what they say, the 11th time is a charm.

What are you using to monitor temps?

There are a few Q6600 batches that run really hot. I've seen them run hot with 1.2125v vid and 1.225v vid. It could be that yours is from those batches.

The one thing I have noticed is that this TX-1 thermal paste is very thick. It is impossible to do the spread method because it just doesn't spread. When I take off the heat sink it look as if it creates this spider web of little goops. I dont know how to explain it. I believe AS5 is much better. But from what ive read it should make virtually no difference.

I doubt doing it an 11th time is going to change anything. I suggest you use a different thermal paste, different application method, use a different monitoring program, different heatsink, etc.

I use realtemp, speedfan and coretemp. I have realtemp set to 90 tjmax, speedfan is calibrated at about 95, and I believe coretemp sets it at 100tjmax. So they are all different. I typically use 95tjmax. And I've never heard a confirmed case of CPU's being 15c hotter simply because its a different batch.

Trust me on this one. There are a few members on this forum who have had these chips. PM Wh33ls, he had one.

And its not just because it is a batch, it is because a certain batch had impurities or uneven cores resulting in an uneven contact with the IHS. The chips do well on water, and are OCing to 3.8GHz, but the run really hot!

I used AS5 with my tuniq and i don't get that high temps. Mine isn't even lapped. My room is 55F so it is pretty cold. Here is a pic with all 4 cores folding. Do you have good airflow?

Can you reach your hand into your case and see if it is actually that much heat coming off of it
