i am thinking of overclocking my new e5200 to somewhere in the lower 3ghz, like 3.2, at the highest 3.4ghz. i use it for games, and audio/video encoding and playback. i do play online games for extended periods of time (8 hrs+ sadly) on rare occasions and i dont want to cook my proc.
__________________i need to know a good cooler that will fit in a mid tower case (coolermaster elite) and is $40 or below. i would also like something that is relatively light so i dont strain the mobo, and some info on what all i need to install the HSF. my vid card has a dual slot design for heat exhaust and i will have ample airflow for the case, so case temp will not be a problem. my room does get warm tho, 75F+ is common in winter. i will try to keep it down, but i have a small room and i often leave my door closed, so the heat is trapped in my room, which is great for me when its cold outside, but not so good for my computer lol last thing, is lapping really worth it? i read somewhere it can cause damage to the HSF or processor. and it seems like it would take some time. and i dont have any good sand paper lol. im not looking to squeeze every mhz out of my proc, so extreme cooling is not necesary, i would just like to keep my proc below 60C load temps @ 3.2ghz or so. thanks in advance

XIGMATEK HDT-D1264 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler
While this cooler is big it seemed fairly light when I used it and it is more than enough to keep your E5200 cold. You might want to get the bolt through kit with a backplate but honestly I don't see a big problem with the way it mounts.

Either that or the Xigmatek Dark Night, it has the backplate already and is only $45

That Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro that Jerid link to is really good for the price. One of the best cooler out there, and for the price too. But it comes with push pins, and it seems you don't like them. I would also recommend the Xigmatek s1283. Paying a little more comes a long way.
