Default Q6600 Temp confusion

So I have gone through EVERYTHING to get my cpu temperature down. Everything is perfect.. lapped, washer mod, case cooling... you name it and I have done it. So the last thing I can think of is that my thermal paste is very thick and dry. When I apply a dab onto the cpu and smoosh it on I take it off later and it hase this spider beb kind of pattern with little spots where its kind of thick. You think maybe these are little pockets of air? Bye the way, My idle temperatures are fantastic. 32 31 29 30. But load is at 70c + VID is 1.225 and vcore is 1.37

You can try to re-seat the tuniq again, hopefully that helps. BTW, what are your ambient temps?

Tuniq TX-1.... Seriously though, I cant even spread this stuff out. It is much to thick. I have seen videos of people spreading AS5 and it looks like a cake walk to spread. So the dot method seems to work the best with this stuff but when I take it off later, like I said, It looks like little individual cells.

I'm having the same thing happen when I look at how my TIM has settled. Looks like a spider web with lots of large gaps with no TIM. But I'm using AS5, and I've done pretty much everything he's done as well, except I use the line method. No idea if that is a normal, or a bad thing though.

Hope you get it figured out!

the spider web pattern is created upon separation of the sink and IHS. paint your hand and stick it on paper then lift your hand off....I bet theres lines in the middle of all your fingers. Also i wouldn't be worried about your temps...you probably are using a TJMAX of 100 which is also probably wrong for your chip....I think the TJMAX for the Q6600 is either 95 or 90. not 100. you must check what your BIOS says your CPU temp is, then adjust your TJMAX to either 90 or 95, whichever falls inline with the bios reading, for me it was 90. If I set to 100 i was 10 degrees too hot in windows...now all my temps seem in-line and nothing's all crazy, I also load at 72 odd on 2 of 4 cores, my ambients are almost 30 degrees though here in summer.... right now its about 23 in here and I sit on 30, 31, 29, 30

By the way, I just got AS5 today and it really didn't help much at all (As expected). I am using a tjmax of 90-95. (I average the two) With a Tjmax of 95 I get idle temps 31-30-28-29. FANTASTIC idle temperatures. But my load just kills it! After 5 minutes I am at about 68c. This is crap! I sold my other one to get this awesome VID chip and I get nothing but crap temps. I really dont understand how my idle is fantastic as can be bu the load is so high. I have seen screenshots of people running 3.6ghz with WAY HIGHER vcore running about 55c with the same cooler. And I have never heard any confirmation of a certain batch just randomly running ridiculously hot for no reason.
