I meant black fins. I am not too fond of the shrouds employed by CoolerMaster.

Sweet! It appears Performance PCs has the TRUE Black with the 1366 retention bracket included in the price!

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=24731

It's just too bad they don't do the lapping for you, and leave the mirror finish up to the end user. I will bite the bullet and pay the $80 for this but what type of TIM should I purchase? Last time I purchased any Arctic Silver 5 was considered the best. I presume that has changed, so what's better now?

ICD 7 is an amazing paste. Check the cooling experiments thread for ocn's endorsed review of it. They sent out 100 tubes of it to those who signed up the only caveat being you had to test it against your current paste. Read the graphs, they will tell you all you need to know

Here's the thread

As nice as those results may be, there are too many unknowns with that many different people performing tests - first and foremost of which is the fact that there wasn't a uniform starting TIM.

OCZ Freeze is the best from what I have seen on the forums. I've stuck with AS5 though, even though it requires some time to cure, once done it works great and the cooler is basically stuck onto the IHS/Die better than other TIM.
