There are a couple of other threads in that same sub forum comparing it to some of the other high end pastes. Of course everything is pretty close, but there have been no results that dethrone ICD at all. I'm not saying it totally destroy's everything out there. All I'm saying is that if you get it you will be perfectly happy with its performance.

EDIT:

I wasn't sure if you saw this one or not. This graph shows what pastes ICD does stomp, which would be AS5. MX-2 has been a favorite for a while too and as you can see, the results against it are pretty consistent as well.

Also, I have heard about the pressure issue with the TRUE heat sinks. Is there an article on this as well? Most reviews don't plop on 38mm fans when they do the tests, so clearly the TRUE performs near the top with a regular fan. Is it that much better with a 38mm one? This article implies that such a fan is not needed. Furthermore, aren't the fan clips only going to fit 25mm fans and not 38mm?
Heres the review others are talking about with the noctua beating the TRUE, even the single fan NH-U12P beat the TRUE with its stock fan which has 10 more CFM.

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/880/1/

Keep in mind this review was with all coolers STOCK, that means no lapping or high CFM fans added. If you take the time and work to lap + pressure mod a TRUE and purchase a decently high CFM fan you will probably be awarded with the best air cooling performance. If you do not want to lap i would suggest the noctua.

Now that's what I like to see! Thank you very much for the extra information! I take it MX-2 was widely considered one of the best?

But won't lapping the Noctua also improve its performance such that it stays ahead of the TRUE, or is the TRUE just that bad regarding its curved base? I intend to use a 100+cfm fan (already have one), so that isn't an issue. I am just weary of having to lap so much of the TRUE base since it is curved.

I doubt it, the TRUE is just extra fail and comes very uneven. lapping both the NH-U12P and the TRUE will probably produce good results but the TRUE will see a better performance gain.

Has anyone had experience with Crazypc.com? I'd like to have someone lap the cooler for me since Thermalright is notorious for having horrible finishes, and they have a good price on the TRUE Black.

I have no experience with them but they seem to be good. One member got a cooler lapped by them and it had a nice, flat finish.

Here's the thread
Relevant to your link, Benchmark Reviews did a 33-way compound test using all the best thermal compounds, however the tests might not be as stressful as they could have been, so real performance of each paste may not have been fully explored. Here is where you'll find the narrowed-down comparison of the best compounds in the bunch; I can only imagine how long it took to put the article together. But I'll stick with what Marin said, that OCZ's Freeze compound has been known to be best around here.

I've found that ICD7 works GREAT at CPU's with a higher TDP. my load temps dropped about 3 degrees if my voltage was pushed past the 1.5v mark compared to AS5, and that's with all the exact same settings and ambient temps. before the 1.5v mark though, they performed very similarly, so it seems that at the higher heat outputs, ICD7 is able to conduct heat a bit faster.

Do not get the Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer. It's a pain to mount and impossible to remove. I've been trying to remove it for the past month to re-apply thermal paste and it's a no go. The aluminum fins usually come bent, and are prone to bend easily. The cooler is also unable to do push/pull and is tall and wide compared to other coolers. They also use a cheap metal wires to clip the fan to the heatsink. Although the temperatures are extremely good for the price, the overall build quality is horrid. I've seen people complain about snapping their motherboards when trying to mount this heatsink.

Read this from a newegg review:

"Also, for you AMD CPU users, this isn't your hook and lock with the swing lever install, it's one of them hook and push down clips. You'll need a certain level of dexterity to push down and lock it. It is one of those where if the flat head slips, you'll be nailin the mobo good. Consider if your new to HSFs."
