Has anyone ever tried using a belt sander? I have an E6750 and was considering lapping it, I was thinking of having my belt sander give it a few rounds (on 120 grit and slow speeds of course) before hand sanding it.
belt sanders are so imprecise im just a finish carpenter and we use them maybe once a year they are way aggressive

Damn that's nice!

Although I only wish it could have taken me such a short time... I lapped my TRUE copper... it's totally flat now, which I'm very satisfied with, but it took a few hours. And it's not even a mirror finish, the finest I had was 1000 grit. >_<

I'll get finer and some ICD and give that a try myself... I could try it with AS5 but it would probably not work the same, considering Silver is a relatively soft metal and diamond is the hardest natural substance on this planet.

With a belt sander your gonna experience 3 things:

-Show your CPU what real speed is, as a flying projectile.
-Shave a finger.
-Finish with a gouged flat, angled surface because of the pressure on only one side of the CPU during process to keep from first two happening.
