Default Guide: Easy Lapping

I got sick of the multi-grit approach so I tried something a little different when I lapped my Opty 165.
Lapped with 400 for roughly a half an hour til it was perfectly flat.
Lapped with 1500 for 10-15 minutes til it was smooth.
rubbed with ICD for a few seconds to remove all of the super fine scratches.
Total time = less than an hour

The result:




and a photo negative shot so you can see the complete lack of scratches.



I hope I can help somebody save some cash and some time as well.

I'm also sorry for the quality of the pics, it was a really nice digital camera, approximately five years ago

I thought rubbing it with some kind of polishing compound leaves residue?

ICD=Innovation Cooling Diamond Thermal Compound. The diamonds in the compound act as a super fine grit paper.
