Exclamation WOOW. My TRUE was DIRTY.

So before my new parts arrive I though I would clean my true up a little. It looked sort of black and just looked old. So I took some chrome polish and a dremel with a buffer wheel on it and went to work.

I started on low speed and buffed it for about 2 min. And I was amazed at all the crappy black stuff that came off of it. Then I decided to see what was in between the fins. (Razors btw I cut my damn finger). And again alot of black grime and crap came off.

So my advice to people with a true or any finned coolers for that matter CLEAN IT. I will be posting pics of how much dirt and crap came out and I will post pics of my newly polished TRUE.

I cleaned my xiggy last week before putting it on my 750i. I actually had to take it outside with the can of air it was so bad. I need air filters for my A900 fans, it was ridiculous.

I wonder how much of the "black stuff" was the coating to prevent oxidation. Does a TRUE even use a coating since it is nickel coated already?

You're talking about using a buffing compound. Of course it will get black. It's not necessarily dirty, it's removing impurities in thh buffing process. If you want to clean it, blow it out with a can of air and a small brush. Buffing it won't do anything but make it shiny, perhaps even leave a microfilm residue of the buffing compound on the fins that might attract dust even more.
