The methodology must be proper though.

First:
1. Unlapped TRUE
2. Unlapped Noctua
3. Unlapped Xig

Second:
1. Lapped True
2. Lapped Noctua
3. Lapped Xig

Third:
1. Fully Modded TRUE
2. Fully Modded Noctua
3. Fully Modded Xig (not sure it needs a washer mod)

It helps that you have a NICE OC on the q6600. I feel like it's the perfect chip to test these on and the 3.8ghz OC should be very indicative of the BEST possible performance you can expect from the coolers.
I need someone to loan me a xig with the bolt thru kit, then i'll be happy to test it. I just can't justify spending money on a cooler that might just end up sitting around if i can't find a build to use it for. Also..does the Xig even need to be lapped? I don't know how thick or thin those HDT pipes are.

"There's no getting through to you, is there? You even broke your own link. The only BSing going on is on your end. Just stop it. Please. You refuse to accept that, out of the box, without modding, the Noctua is THE best CPU air cooler available, that's just how it is. You made no effort to keep this on topic, and no effort to listen to reason or fact."

How so? it won't even beat S1283 or vendetta 2. stop dreaming.

so funny. I guess this is the op standard of on par with the big league.

Pros:

High-performance heatsink
Low-noise/silent fan included
Thermal paste included
Includes fan clips for a 2nd fan

Cons:

Performance trails behind the market competitor <---ouch lol
Mounting bracket blocks LGA775 socket lever
Fan clip wire ends are difficult to move into position
That review shows both bone stock, and the difference is a couple C, which is within the margin of error. No test is perfect. It even says High performance heatsink in the "pro" comments. lol. Nullifying your whole "it's average" argument. Even your review says it's good.

Yeah, it will beat the S1283 and the V2. Are those 2 better than the TRUE? Cause according to your review, the Noctua is only a few C warmer at the worst. You're fighting a losing argument here.

I'm going to test them myself, then we'll see the results.

I guess the two champions are the Noctua and the TRUE with the TRUE on top. Thanks for the link poohball.

Do you need a glass? it showed 4.2c difference on loaded.

So, you still don't get it? it pretty match what I said at the beginning.
Is a nice cooler. it is soso among the big boys.
Thats why the con said "Performance trails behind the market competitor "............is it really that hard to understand?

I haven't lapped my Xig... but at my current OC I have about a 2-3c difference in cores.
Normally Core 0/1 = 52c full load (small fft, prime95) and Core 2/3 are normally 49c under full load.

So lapping it might actually help.

If anything... lapping might get rid of those gaps between the HDT and the Aluminum separators.

I'd loan you mine... if it weren't in use. I guess I could put the stock cooler back on for a bit... but ughhh...

It would just be too much of a pain. If I had bought a TRUE (like I told myself I was going to) I would have gladly shipped my Xiggy out to you for some testing. I think this is a great idea and even if you only go with the TRUE vs. the Noctua... I think you're doing a great thing here!!

Cheers and repped!!

Again...i will test this and see for myself and everyone else that's interested at OCN. Obviously if my results are different than ONE review you're going to cry foul on my results. I've learned not to trust internet reviews for good reason, they're usually biased one way or the other.

You're not going to change my mind. So you think i should just not do everyone a favor and test them because of one simple review? Right...I don't believe everything I read.

As said, you're fighting a losing argument. You only proved the TRUE will beat the Noctua. The TRUE, after modifying, provides the best performance of any air cooler. Given how close the Noctua comes to an UN-modified TRUE, in what of YOUR dreams does a Xigmatek or OCZ cooler defeat the Noctua? By "market competitior" in the Cons, it means the TRUE. Is THAT hard to understand?

I'm very interested to see how this turns out. If possible, could you also test the for push/pull fans on both?

Oh, and poohball: Congratulations, you're the newest member of my blocked user list.
