Which is where you've been wrong the entire time. But I'm giving up. I'm honestly surprised you haven't driven me or anyone else to violate the Istanbul Protocol or the Martens Clause yet. It's that bad. Just stop it and let him do the tests.
What about doing all the tests outside the case and then repeat them inside your 1200? I think it would be interesting to see how much the "unneeded variable" affects the outcome.

I suppose I could do this as well. The 1200 has pretty good airflow though, but i still think it will be a couple C warmer inside the case.

It probably would be, but to me there's some satisfaction in knowing exactly how much it would be affected. After all, most of us use our parts inside of a case, don't we?

Still though, I would test all the options you can while you've got them all together. If you want this to be the final word on the issue, you need to test in a horizontal caseless environment as well as in a case, vertically mounted.

Ok. Sounds like I'll do the tests inside the case too. I'll save the case testing for fully modified coolers. You don't think I'd need to do modded/unmodded in the case as well, right?

test is really a good idea, let me see if I can get a sample of noctua and I will have my tech run a test report for me against S1283.
