2) How does the TRUE compare when both use a low CFM fan?

3) Does the Noctua actually hang with the TRUE when both are modded (lapped and washer mod on both)?

I have a lapped/washer modded Noctua right now, and another is arriving for a rig i'm putting together, so it will be used against the TRUE, which i should be getting within the next couple of weeks.

Would anyone be interested if this was done? I know there's sites that do reviews, but they don't seem that great, and I just think some people on here would just love to see these 2 go head to head.

Ideas? Comments?
I tested both of them and it turned out that the NH-U12P was a few degrees better out of the box.

So you consider 5-7c higher than True = in the same league of True?

I am not saying it is a bad cooler.
It is indeed a nice cooler, nice craftmanship but thats about it.
It dispense heat as efficient as other 4 heatpipe coolers and thats it.
What makes you think it can be magically more efficient than the others when It doesn't even have HDT?

did you read the conclusion on the review you post? it sums it up pretty good.

Pros:

High-performance heatsink
Low-noise/silent fan included
Thermal paste included
Includes fan clips for a 2nd fan

Cons:

Performance trails behind the market competitor
Mounting bracket blocks LGA775 socket lever
Fan clip wire ends are difficult to move into position

Dude poohball...let's wait a couple weeks for my results before we go saying the Noctua sucks, because, well...it doesn't. Not even close. I'd love to test the Xig, but I don't have the money to just buy up every cooler there is lol.

You make HDT seem way better than it really is. Tell me then...why doesn't the xig match the TRUE?

i think you guys should really look at the IFX-14. it's the bigger thermalright coolers that came after the true. there's several reviews of it against the TRUE and it beats it in every one of them. i don't know how well the noctua performs but the true is not the best cooler. the only downside to the IFX-14 is it's extremely large and won't fit alot of motherboards, hard to put on, but it's able to hold 3 fans in push pull config. and it's extremely pricey. performance wise, it's probably the best to date.

It doesn't. This is coming from a Xig owner and user. Wish I had a TRUE to put up against my Xigmatek Thor's Hammer(S126384). Oh well. Ill just compare it to my S1283

Looking forward to your review OP.

It is my objective understanding that the Noctua will beat an un-lapped/modded TRUE. Why do you try to force this on us when you have a Xig Red Scorpion and wouldn't even know yourself the difference between your RS and the Noctua, much less the TRUE and the Noctua?

Yeah it would be nice if I could get some coolers that i don't have the money, or need for. I guarantee this review will be the most comprehensive one out there between the Noctua and TRUE for sure. The only other cooler i have laying around is a Thermaltake V1, but that would be just for the laughs. Actually, come to think of it, i wouldn't trust that cooler at my sigg'ed speeds. Not even close.
