I have to back up ddanko here ...
I'm also a TRUE owner, lapped and with dual fans ... But I consider the top end Noctua cooler to be just as good ... I've not owned one but I've read a gazillion reviews and it's in the same league as the TRUE for sure. YMMV.

I want the "high end" fan to be pretty much the best it can be. That way there's a clear winner, plus, there's some panaflos and deltas with similar airflow and static pressure, they're just louder/not the same quality.

Throw a S1283 or a Vendetta 2 into your testing!

It would best be tested outside of a case due to less variables.
Every case is different and that ultimately will affect final results. That's one reason test reports vary and come up with different winners and results.

Most reviews show them within 1-2C.
The benefit to Noctua is no lapping is *needed, and includes a wonderful fan. A TRUE may perform 1-2C better, but you need to lap it, plus you have the cost of the fan on top of that. The TRUE is about the same cost as teh Noctua, but you have to buy a fan for the TRUE. |
