How long did you let the TIM cure for, for each test? I saw a good 4-5C drop over a week with letting the TIM cure. If you already had the TRUE installed, that would probably explain the big temp difference.

IC7 only "cures" when there's not enough pressure being applied. I'm not about to sit around for a couple days per CPU cooler and let the TIM cure. The Xig has been on here for...oh 14 hours or so and there's been no change in temps if that says anything.

The TRUE was not the cooler I had installed before the test. All have been on equal ground as far as that's concerned.

Ok so im confused with your graph, when it says out of the box? does that mean no fan on it?

cause i cant possibly imagine why if you stick a fan on the heatsink that temps would get worse?

Well, not really. Testing silent computing heatsinks against heatsinks more designed for extreme overclocking will make the Noctura appear seriously outclassed (no matter if it's with XYZ 1001cfm rated fan; lapped; or with the latest and greatest TIM).

The test is better if the HSF are based on genre. Extreme overclocking rated HSF together, and silent computing HSF together -- not mixed and matched.

As this test is really about the TRUE (with all it's copper goodness), than the application of why the HSF was used in the first place (e.g., extreme overclocking or silent computing).

Out of the box means just that, you take it out of the box and use it, except the TRUE, which i added an Antec Tri Cool fan. The Xig used it's fan, as did the Noctua.

Genre? All 3 of these heatsinks are designed with overclocking in mind. Just because the Noctua gets beated doesn't mean you need to make excuses to why. This test is about which one of the 3 most popular heatsinks today is better.

Same TIM and same fan IS equal ground. The Noctua just isn't as good, and as you can see, the TRUE is also better with a low CFM fan, making your argument invalid.

out of the box means the stock fan that came with each heatsink the only one that didnt come with a fan was a TRUE and an Antec Tricool was used

ok that makes sense now, i though out of the box meant he didnt put a fan on all of them, and was confused as to why when the noctua fan went on temps got worse, but it makes sense now.

also maybe you should put the CFM of each fan on the graph?

The CFM really doesn't matter. The Xig fan is rated at 89CFM and hardly moves any air through the heatsink, strap the 102 CFM San Ace 1011 on it, moves seriously about 10 times the air through it.

It's all about static pressure.
