Can you take pictures of the lapped bases of all the coolers?

I'm particularly interested whether you got all the nickel plating off the base of the Xig, how long that took, and whether or not it was difficult (time spent).

I would have expected SOME temp difference if you took off the nickel plating. So I'm just curious.

As for the TRUE testing... it is odd that lapping/pressure modding only shaved off 1c but that would explain why it RAPED the other coolers out of the box. Clearly you got lucky and got a VERY good TRUE in terms of overall flatness (or flatness where it counts... in the middle). So that to me makes perfect sense. I still would have expected lapping to drop temps a bit more... but I'm confident that since your IHS was already lapped (before any testing was done)... that you simply got lucky, got a really flat TRUE (in the middle) and that directly lead to amazing "out of the box" results.

As for the Noctua... I'd love to see the backtracking by Senoir jackass about it being a "silent cooler" not intended to "combat" the "hybrid" coolers. lmao

Just goes to show, TRUE lapping isn't even necessary most of the time.

This community is hardcore like that to make it sound like it is only a good idea to get a TRUE if you lap it and do the appropriate mods. Totally false.

I don't think thats true at all...... Coolers are like CPU's.

No 2 are the same, and some respond better than others.

I have lapped both of my T.R.U.E's, 1 Dropped in temp 7C and the other Dropped 10C...Both have washer mods aswell.

Either way Nice review ljason8eg!

And I think it is safe to say, it's safe to purchase any of these 3 coolers.

It's called the washer mod. You can search it on here fairly easily for a tutorial. Basically you place a washer on top of the block that the heat pipes protrude from. The washer goes between the block and mounting bracket to force more pressure on the cpu when the heatsink is tightened down.

Here I found a link for you

I know that and he may have been lucky with the TRUE he got. I'm pointing out the false info about lapping being a necessity with every TRUE. It's simply not. The TRUE will perform excellent, even without lapping. If you needed to lap it, you ran out of luck, and that's how I see it.
