Default Panaflo and its bare wires

I just got this 120x38 fan and apparently, many have cautioned directly connecting it to the motherboard. Now my problem is, I can't find a 3 pin to molex adapter. Basically I need something like this:

I'm wondering if i could make one like that? My panaflo's a BX version (which has RPM sensing if i recall) but the bare wires that came with it were in red black and white. How do I go about this? Is the white wire equivalent to the yellow one? If I were to take a 4 pin molex, which wires go to which?

Another question which is sort of tangential is that my true 120 seems to have corrosion on one side. Is there any way to get it off? What's the best way to clean the heatsink given the fact that a small part of it is corroded already? Will the corrosion get worse with time?

This link may help you decide how you want to wire up the fan.

Withe regards the Heatsink, Lap it, and some TIM's cause oxidization, look for one that is not silicone oxide based.

That link's very useful, thanks! As for the corrosion, it's on the fins themselves not at the base. How do i proceed?
