First off you sould never do a push and pull config w/ two differant fans (too many variables) especially with differant CFM. Using two diff spec'd fans can impair airflow in a push/pull config.

As for the best fans you cant go wrong with Scythe Ultra Kaze... The most powerful fans on the market today. 3000rpm w/ 133 CFM @ only 9 bucks each. Cant go wrong there.

45DBA is abit loud isn't it? Im trying to not make it TOO loud. If possible I would like a fan about as loud as an antec tri cool on medium. If thats even reasonable.

You can hook the Ultra Kazes up to a controller so they are not that loud.

For reference, the Tri-cools @ medium is 28-29DB.

Turns out I might not have clearance for push pull with 38mm or maybe not even 25mm. In that pic the DrMos cooler Might be in the way of mounting a fan for pull. If this ends up being the case I might go with a single UltraKaze pushing. Ill find out tomorrow when I put my cooler in.

No they aren't. Brands like Delta, Sanyo, Panaflo and EBMpapst all have a lot more powerful and higher quality fans. Ultra Kazes aren't even close to being good, they're sub par quality fans that use sleeve bearings.

And
They're popular because of their availability

Price you mean. Some of us would rather not save $5 on a fan by cutting its expected lifetime drastically and being subjected to excessive noise.

I have an Ultra Kaze 2000 and a Panaflo H1, and the Panaflo is definitely the superior fan in every respect I can think of except possibly that its sticker is uglier.

If noise is an issue go with the Scythe S-Flex F. They're 25mm and push 63.7CFM @ 28dBA spinning at 1600 rpm. You'll get good air movement and not be subjected to the sound of planes taking off from a runway with the 38mm.

Throw some pics up of your Thor's Hammer if you can!
